Back from the Qualifier!

So this past weekend was an emotional roller coaster for me in so many ways. The past 3 months have been extremly brutal with work, diet, training, extra training and trying to sleep. In the end all of the sweat and tears were definatly worth while and I took home some memories that will last with me forever. I ended up finishing number 14 and didn't qualify for CA but I would do it again in a heart beat. The experience alone is worth it's weight in gold. There was some amazing competition both with the men and the woman. It was mind blowing to watch such trained and focused athletes put their bodies and minds through the ringer...just inspiring. I am so glad my husband Chad joined the crew on this trip. It really opened his eyes to what I am capable of and what I have been training for. He finally opened up to me and expressed many meaningful words which really touched my heart and was important to hear. I think I have inspired him to start caring about his well being.
As far as the Crossfit Fort Myers Crew.....It's hard to put into words just how much I love you all. Having you there by my side cheering me on and running with me to the finish is a memory that with stay with me for the rest of my life. To have such a support system believing in you when your body and mind are ripped to shreds is like no other. When I was doubting myself I could hear all of the MK cheers and I knew I had to finish. I would not have completed my last WOD without all of your support. Thank you guys for believing in me and sticking with me through the entire experience. And of course our awesome Coach who was right in the thick of it the entire weekend and for the past 3 months pushing and pushing me to succeed! You guys all ROCK!!

Wednesday

The day before I leave for Jacksonville!! I practice my sprints, tabata squats and push ups and then 5 rope climbs. I am done working out for the week tomorrow I'll just go in and stretch and practice a few double unders. My back is still tight so I am a little nervous about that. I have one more massage and I am hoping that'll do the trick and all will be good. I've been eating a little more then usual at my meals so I need to pull back a little the next few days. I'm kind of thinkin' it's stress but we'll be ok. I am right where I want to be physically I just need to hold on a few more days!

Tuesday

Up this morning with good sleep. Worked on clean n jerks, tabata deadlifts and wallball shots in prep for the qualifier this weekend. I am sore from the wod yesterday so there will be no more weights this week for me.

5am-1 block mix sweet potato, apple sauce, protein powder
7:30am-3 block qualifier meal

Monday, Monday, Monday!!!

So I totally could not sleep last night. Thoughts of the games and the upcoming WOD's in and out of my head all freakin' night. Up wayyyy early. Checked the WOD's for this weekend they were posted by 5am. SO happy as there are no HSPU's yet in the workouts. A little nervous on the D/u's but I know I can do them it will just take me a little longer then everyone else. I can't believe I actually have a chance! HELL YEAH!

Sunday

At work again :( But it's all good. Was able to catch up with 2 girlfriends over breakfast at First watch. Love it there...I was able to eat super clean and then run home grab some nuts and head to the pool for a little bit before work. Clean yesterday as well except I over ate on blocks. It's all good--yummy seafood and steak. Got a foot detox and then hit the sauna. The in-laws leave tomorrow....I can't believe it's been 2 weeks. Amazing. Less than a week to the qualifier and if I said I didn't think about it everyday I would be lying. Game on!

Friday at last!

Couldn't sleep in so up with the 6am crew. WOD was 12deads, 9 hang cleans, 6 push jerks at 100lbs, 5 rounds. Finished in 13:06. My grip failed before I did. I couldn't hold the thumb grip on the hang cleans like I could with the 83 lbs I had to reset a few times. Overall it was a good push. Extra work for me today was ring dips. I was finally able to master the ring dips...OH yeah all the way down and up!!! SO pumped. Worked on holding a few handstands for a min. as well.

Thursday

WOD was Row 1,000m, 40 thrusters, run 4 sprints, 30 thrusters, 3 sprints, 20 thrusters, 2 sprints, 10 thrusters, 1 sprint. Not as bad as I thought today! Each gutter counted as one sprint, thank goodness. Finished under 12 min so I was super pumped with that. No extra work today I was off early to work. Pushed myself as hard as I could with no sidekick today :( Pretty tired today as I've already had 2 cups of coffee. Not like me!!

6:45am-Sweet potato, apple sauce, protein powder, nuts-Super full. Might try cutting back the nuts and eating them a little later next round.

Not sure when I'll get another solid meal today so at 4pm-fish/egg whites, salad, nuts

Wednesday

WOD was 3 rounds of 15 KBS, 15 push ups-run 400m, 3 rounds of 15 WBS at 14lbs, pull ups chest to bar, run 400m, 3 rounds of push press, squats, run 400m. The last few days have been good cardio and this was no exception. Extra work for me today was holding the handstand push ups 5 sets, 1 min. hold. Super excited about weighing in today. I'm down to 153-151 after the wod and sauna :) and I dropped 4 % body fat since January 15. What a great way to start the morning:)

Up with not a great deal of sleep. I am pushing for the weekend people. Saturday I can sleep in until about 8 so I am super excited about that. WOD was nasty met con today! 3 rounds of 500m row, 21 burpees, 400m run. Shout out to Sarah for pushing me until the very end. Extra work was Handstand push ups. Which I felt stronger at but still not down to the mat...CRAP!

7:30am-Qualifier meal test 1-Sweet potatoes, unsweet apple sauce, protein powder, nuts-Looked a lot like baby food but it was good!

Monday!

WOD was Hang Power clean and Jerk. Not one of my favorites you know...overhead. The shoulders are getting better but when I got up in weight I could feel them! 95, 105, 115, 125, 125, 135 cleaned but missed overhead, 135 cleaned missed overhead. Darn it! Shout out to Sarah who got her 120lbs! Extra work was deadlifts. Sets of 5, 5 rounds. 205 ,205, 205, 215, 205

Thursday

So I was a little grumpy ok a lot grumpy this morning. I've just had a lot on my mind with work, chad, the inlaws, the games, sleep and rest issues. The list really could go on and on. I know I need to pull back and do what I gotta do to get through the next 2 weeks. We'll get there and hopefully I'll make it rested and in one piece.
WOD this morning was AMRAP 20 min-83lbs power cleans, 100m sprint. Uping the cleans by 3 each round. I banged out 9 rounds and my forearms were shot. Shout out to the 6am crew who all did this workout prescribed..yeah girls! Extra work was squats sets of 5 and KTE. I didn't go very heavy on the squats and I'm glad for that. I was spent this morning.

Wednesday

So yesterday went well with the food. Right now don't remember what all i ate cause I'm crunched for time but I know it was good. Didn't get dinner down until 8 or a little after which sucked. Today's wod was Tabata or Something else. 20 sec on 10 off 8 rounds of each exercise and then move to the next. Row for calories, push press at 55lbs, sit ups, air squats. The push presses kicked my ass. Shout out to HP for kickin butt! Extra work although we didn't have any from coach was holding a handstand for 1 min. 5 rounds. Hit the sauna and then headed to work.

1st meal will be-Salad, lean ground turkey, nuts
2nd Meal-Turkey burger, salad, nuts-I know boring but it was easy to pre-pack :0
3rd meal- Turkey burger with cheese, veggies with hummus, nuts
some more cheese!

Tuesday

Feeling tired today and I'm not sure why. I had a beautiful day of rest yesterday. WOD was 400m run, 20 pull ups-chest to bar, 400m run 30 burpees, 400m run, 20 pull ups, 400m run 30 burpees, 400m run 20 pull ups. Around 22 min I don't remember exactly. Super happy with my pull ups...not so much with my burpees. Man those suck the life out of me. I know it's mental when I get tired but gosh darn it. Extra work was handstand push ups and high pulls from the hang position at 95lbs. 5 rounds of 5. So I have come to the conclusion that if there are handstand push ups or ring dips at the qualifier I am screwed. I will have to practice holding myself in the handstand position from now until the games if I would like a chance at succeeding. OUCH-that's a major blow. You've got to be good at everything and those 2 exercises I can not do yet prescribed. GRRRR.

Monday

Tired from the weekend. WOD was heavy deadlifts 1-1-1-1-1-1. Warmed up then 255, 265,265 missed, 225, 245, 245. Extra work was Shoulder sets of 5 and 5 weighted pull ups-super sets--75, 80,80,80,80. Pretty happy with my shoulder press as last time I did it I was in pain. They are feeling better so I am super happy :) Still need to work on tightening my hamstrings and gluets when I deadlift I could feel it in my back. When all is tight the lifts are so much easier.

Not sure why I was so hungry this evening! Usually when I IF i'm not that hungry later in the day. Could be the heavy lifting and the sauna this morning. Not sure. So my poor poor bailey. He had two teeth extracted today and looked so sad and out of it when I picked him up. He's still not all there...poor doggy :( Hopefully tomorrow he'll be back to his crazy self and not mad at us!

Sunday

So last night was fun! The everblades game was a good time, great to see Tyler and John outside of working out, and NC pulled out a huge win. All went as planned! Got up early this morning for the big pancake breakfast at work. Man do these old people love their pancakes. Just got home and I'm now headed to a baby shower. I am wishing I was outside enjoy the beautiful day, but friendship calls.

Saturday

Yesterday WOD's were-Front Squat. Pretty happy with mine as I have had to really focus on keeping my elbows high. 2nd wod was working on Power Cleans which are still a pain in the ass. I can't get it down no matter how much weight I use. It's frustrating to say the least. I know once I get it I'll remember what it was like, but it's getting it that is killing me! I'm totally jumping too soon and pulling the bar way out in front of me! I'm working on it. Meals were good and solid all day. Just a little spurge on some Peanut butter last night. At work today and then off to a hockey game tonight with the husband. We've gotta either get to a bar or home by 9 so he can watch his NC team.

Thursday

Up with not a lot of sleep. I am totally one of those 8 hour people. I know I am going to crash I am just hoping it'll be tomorrow after the work out as I have the day off. Back on at work all weekend so not much rest time. WOD today was really hard for me to find the mental strength. 3 rounds of 3 min row, 3 min pull ups, 3 min rest. My total was somewhere in the mid 200's. Not very happy with my output of pull ups, I think the filthy kicked my butt! Extra work was renegade rows with push ups-50, that sucked too!

Wednesday

Our coach is sooo funny on Apri fools day. Thought we were going to be doing lots of rope climbs so I prepared by wearing long pants. Come to find out it was the FILTHY FIFTY! Oh yeah I about died of sweat this morning. 50 of everything box jumps, jumping pull ups, Walking lunges, KBS, KTE, Hypers, Push press at 45lbs, WBS at 20lbs, burpees, D/u's. I beat my old time with 33:49 this morning and hit it at RXD. Last time I know my KTE would not have counted and I didn't do double unders. So I'm happy with that. Hit the sauna with sarah and then got a massage. What a great morning. So I figured out why I am not getting rid of my belly patch. Sitting in the Sauna with Sarah we started talking about fat blocks...nothing out of the normal there, but I came to the realization that my avocado's were twice the size of the ones she was eating. So I was eating twice the amount of fat at my meals that I need. HOLY CRAP. I knew it was those avocados, gosh darn it! Anyway glad I figured that out I was about to go crazy.

12:30pm-IF over-Lean ground turkey, a little chicken, salad, avocado
2nd meal-Fish, veggies with hummus, avocado
6:15pm-same meal

Ok so I just checked out the qualifier page...The girls on there are looking pretty rugged. I'm startin' to think about it more and more. Totally have to dial in my diet for the next 3 weeks and be as trim as possible going in. YIKES! God be on my side with this :)
